William Collins - NST President - William has been in the IT industry for over 20 years and is one of the founding partners of NST. William has a associates degree from SUNY Farmingdale as well as a Bachelors of Arts Degree from SUNY Binghamton. William finished his education at Dowling College where he received a Master’s in Elementary education. William went on to teach technology after receiving his MCSE in 2000. William founded NST with the hope that he could help companies use technology to make themselves and their employees more efficient.
William’s role in the organization is the management of all employees and business operations. By hiring a strong leadership team, he has an awareness of what's going on without having to be involved daily in the operational details. William also acts as one of the companies VCIO’s (Virtual Chief Information Officer). He’s an avid reader of all things technology related and uses his knowledge to address the needs and challenges of his clients to help them flourish and grow by stream lining their use of technology.
He has the ability to focus on the company’s vision and communicate that to the leadership team by giving them direction and leading by example.
William is based in the NST main location in East Northport and travels occasionally to his remote clients.
Matt Brown - NST Vice President - Matt has been in the IT industry for over 20 years and is one of the founding partners at Network Solutions and Technology. After graduating from Hofstra with a Bachelor’s degree of Management Information Systems he started immediately as a sales engineer at Derive Technologies, providing enterprise level solutions for fortune 1000 companies. Matt helped start NST in 2000 by ensuring that the right solutions were presented to the NST client base and partnering with the leading manufacturers of IT hardware and software products.
Currently Matt leads the Sales, Business Development, Finance and Project Team at NST, ensuring each individual department is running as efficiently as possible. Additionally, the majority of his time is spent as a VCIO (Virtual Chief Information Officer) for many of the NST clients. A VCIO is responsible for orchestrating a technology strategy that will ensure that they operate efficiently and meet their business goals by utilizing today’s technology. His focus is to meet with clients at least twice a year to discuss their business in terms of budget and strategic planning, discuss any new technological developments that may benefit their organization and help streamline their processes and procedures as well as discuss data security, making sure they are well managed and keeping with industry accepted best practices.
Kenneth Varrone - Vice President of Technology - Ken has been with NST since 2010 and has been in the IT industry since 2005. Starting out as a Field Engineer for NST, he was quickly promoted to a senior position and became a team lead for infrastructure implementation projects. In 2014, Ken was brought in-house as the Network Operations Center Manager where he designed and maintained systems to support our customers, as well as provide Escalation Level 3 Support. His knowledge from field and project work proved to be a huge advantage in streamlining automation and help desk support. In 2016, Ken was promoted to Vice President of Technology where he oversees the Security Team, Help Desk Team, Procurement Team, Data Center and Network Operations Center at NST. Although Ken oversees many of our departments, he is actively involved in day-to-day operations and does not hide behind the front lines. He also works closely with the Sales Team to provide pre-sales engineer support and consulting to educate customers on solutions that are cost-effective, efficient and secure. With security being what it is today, Ken has become well-versed in security compliance and data governance in areas such as HIPAA, PCI, DFS, ISO and Sox to name a few. With his knowledge and experience, Ken is responsible for the technology NST uses to stay ahead of the industry curve.
Jessica Messina – Operations Manager - Jessica joined NST in 2010 where she focused on developing the internal processes of our Service Department and Customer Service Team. Now, as Operations Manager, her goal is to build on that success, and bridge the gap between ALL departments. With her finger on the pulse of all things NST, Jessica promotes ongoing and effective communication between teams, identifies pitfalls and develops procedures to resolve them, and makes sure daily operations are aligned with NST’s future goals. Jessica strives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement and efficiency to ensure that NST is providing our clients, the best experience possible.
Shawn Walsh - Vice President of Projects – Shawn has been with NST for 13 years, and has been in the IT industry for over 20. As a level 3 Network Engineer Shawn's main roll at NST has been as Sr. Project Manager, overseeing all aspects of a project ensuring they meet project goals, timelines and budgets. Through a tight, well documented and controlled process he efficiently manages project resources and immediately communicates any pertinent project information back to the client.
Shawn oversees the in-house setup and configuration of all equipment destined for client projects to ensure consistency.
He is based in the NST main office on Long Island but spends most of his time out at client sites managing projects.
Shawn works on all NST Office 365 Deployments, eClinicalWorks projects, Virtualization projects, Cloud hosting projects, Microsoft Exchange projects, new office / infrastructure projects and is an expert in MS Exchange / Office 365.
Shawn can allocate NST resources as needed to meet any client project goals, timelines and scale, thus ensuring project deadlines and budgets are met.
Diana Santariello - Business Development Manager - Diana joined NST in early 2013 as a Senior Account Executive where she demonstrated continual success in sales and securing new accounts. Currently, Diana is the Business Development Manager responsible for expanding and promoting NST through strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, vendor management and assisting with the development of new services. She is responsible for creating and implementing marketing campaigns, report on marketing ROI as well as planning and participating in our trade shows. With the importance of Social Media she also makes sure NST is recognized as an industry expert by updating our sites with meaningful and important technology content. In addition she organizes and runs vendor and client appreciation events as well as all the internal NST events. She continues to grow her book of business by networking and representing NST as a leader in Technology Services.
Sean T Wilson - Service Manager - Sean joined NST in 2005 as a field engineer for some of our larger clients. Working in the field allowed him to be familiar with the intricacies of client operations, the understanding of diverse technologies and gives him the edge to succeed as a service manager. Sean’s time in the Marine Corps as a Corporal, a Non-Commissioned Officer, has taught him discipline, structure and gave him the skills to lead from the front. Currently he leads our help desk technicians and field engineers on a daily basis, monitoring ticket volume, response time, resolution time and gets involved in any escalated issues. Sean will act as the technical resource where needed when the technicians need assistance and has an intimate relationship with our clients that comes from ensuring their issues get handled quickly and efficiently. His focus is that the service department delivers the highest possible level of support.
Brian Van Zandt – Virtual Chief Information Officer - Brian’s been with NST since 2005 helping to grow the business to where it is today. He holds both an MCSE and A+ technical certifications and has been in the IT field since 2001. He received his bachelor degree in Biology/ Pre Med from SUNY Oswego in 1997 and then went back to school for Network Engineering and Data Communications. Brian's role as the Virtual Chief Information Officer involves meeting with NST’s Managed Services clients to go over strategic planning, IT budgets, obtain feedback from clients, educate clients on security concerns and compliance requirements and introduce new NST products, services and offerings. His knowledge of compliance regulations, specifically HIPAA and PCI has allowed NST to become a leader in the healthcare space and he is instrumental in solidifying relationships with the top leading E.H.R. vendors.
Brian also provides sales support to other members of the NST sales team, using his knowledge and experience to help others.
Thomas Cole – Controller - Tom joined the NST staff in October 2014. Tom has returned to the private business sector after 15 years of working for publicly traded companies – Excel Technology and Perfumania. He brings with him 30 years of accounting experience in financial reporting, budgeting, financial controls and risk assessment. Tom leads all financial aspects of NST and is based at NST’s Northport Headquarters.
